Nepal Sambat is a symbol of Nepal’s pride, civilization and charity: PM Karki

Lalitpur. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the Nepal Sambat is the symbol of pride, civilization and identity of Nepalis.

Speaking at a programme organised at Patan Mangal Bazaar on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1146 and New Year with the support of Lalitpur Metropolitan City and various ethnic societies of Patan, Prime Minister Karki expressed commitment to provide possible support for the protection and promotion of the Nepal language.

According to her, the ‘Nepal Sambat’ has been the basis for the commencement of the ‘Nepal Sambat’ on the historic day 1146 years ago when Shankhadhar Sakhwa had lifted people from poverty and debt by lifting them out of loan.

May this year’s democracy inspire all to follow the path of social unity, sacrifice and humanity propounded by Shankhadhar Sakhwa, the Prime Minister wished that the New Year that begins here today may add a new dimension of happiness, peace, social goodwill and progress in the lives of all of us.

“The promoter of Nepal Sambat Shankhadhar Sakhwa was a businessman, he was not only a profit earner but also a great social worker and philanthropic social worker. Since 2065 BS, the Nepal Sambat has been declared the national calendar and the Nepal Sambat has been mentioned in the government documents. ” he said.

“Nepal Sambat originated in Nepal. The Nepali people have given birth to it, therefore, this era is an important heritage of nationalism, originality and social history, there is a lot to learn from the promoters and social workers of this era. Our national aspirations can be fulfilled only if we keep the national interest above the individual and the partisan interest. Prime Minister Karki said.

Saying he was deeply saddened by the incidents of youths losing their lives and hundreds of injuries during the movement against corruption launched by Gen Z group on September 7 and 24, PM Karki said, “I express my heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives in the agitation and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.” ’

“As you are aware, this civilian government formed on the strength of the Gen Z movement has been entrusted with the responsibility of holding the House of Representatives elections on March 21, and this government has the responsibility to address the voice of good governance of the Gen Z movement under the Constitution of Nepal. For this, all levels, classes and classes of the society have an equal role. Come, let’s cooperate in this and play the role of conscious citizens,” she said.

Stating that the government was committed to creating environment conducive for the Nepali people to exercise their franchise in the elections scheduled for March 4 in a fearless manner for democratic empowerment, economic prosperity and protection of civic rights, PM Karki expressed the belief that all the political parties, classes and groups would cooperate to the campaign of holding the elections in a free, fair and fearless environment with the participation of all the Nepalis.

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sambat is being observed today with much fanfare in Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu on behalf of various ethnic communities. Similarly, the Nepal Sambat is being celebrated amidst jubilant atmosphere in various villages, towns and bazaars of the country, especially inhabited by the Newar community.
