The Department has given permission for the construction of 10 hydropower projects.

Kathmandu. The Department of Electricity Development has granted construction permission to a total of 10 hydropower projects in the first three months of the current fiscal year. The combined capacity of these projects is 241.50 MW.

The Department has so far issued construction licenses to 266 projects.TAG_OPEN_div_18 The total capacity of these projects is 10,825 megawatts, according to the department.

The Department has issued construction permits to Lapa Khola (4.72 MW), Lower Barun (132 MW), Myagdi Khola (12.50 MW) and Lower Likhu Cascade (6 MW) till mid-October of the current fiscal year.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Likewise, the government has given construction license to Upper Melamchi (4.95 MW), Super Sabha Khola (9.55 MW), Lower Melamchi Khola (4.96 MW), Upper Seti I (13 MW), Hongu Khola (28.90 MW) and Induwa Khola (24.92 MW).

The Department has so far granted permission for survey to a total of 185 projects.TAG_OPEN_div_14 Likewise, a total of 59 projects have applied for construction permit. The combined capacity of these projects is 10,532 MW.

A total of 12 projects have obtained construction licenses under the solar project.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The capacity of these projects is 84 MW. Three solar projects have applied for construction permits. The capacity of these projects is 15 MW. According to the department, the license of 15 projects has been scrapped for not moving ahead despite having obtained construction license.

The government has also rejected the applications of 11 projects that had applied for construction permits and did not complete the required procedures.TAG_OPEN_div_10 Similarly, survey licenses of 118 projects have been scrapped.
