Chitwan. As many as 69 road accidents have been reported in the district with the beginning of Tihar, the biggest festival of Nepalis. Drunk driving has increased the number of road accidents during festivals.

According to District Police Office Inspector Deepak Rijal, seven people lost their lives in 69 road accidents that took place between October 16 and 20.

According to him, the number of road accidents has increased due to drunken driving. As many as 141 people were injured in road accidents in the past one week, he said.

21 arrested for gambling in Chitwan {{TAG_OPEN_strong_10 TAG_CLOSE_strong_10}}

Police have arrested 21 people on the charge of gambling in different parts of the district. According to the District Police Office, a case has been registered against the arrested and legal action has been initiated.

Police Inspector Rijal said police confiscated Rs 361,210 from the arrestees. According to him, action has been taken against them as per Section 125 of the Criminal Code. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested them from Bharatpur and Khairahani areas.
