Kathmandu. The ‘Genji’ youths have warned the government to move ahead in accordance with the spirit of the movement.
Addressing a precautionary assembly organized by the ‘Genji United for Change’ organization at Maitighar Mandala today, the campaigners urged the government to take initiative to unify the Genji across the country.
They expressed dissatisfaction that the government has not been able to move forward in accordance with the spirit of the Genji movement and has played a role in dividing all Genji youths into different groups instead of uniting them. They urged the government to immediately organize ‘Genji Conference’ in all 77 districts to unite the Genji youths.
Madan Karki, who was injured in the Genji movement, said that the government has exerted pressure on them to participate in the election without paying heed to their demands. “Even though the Genji youths were victorious on the streets and defeated in the talks, now we should unite and struggle,” he said, adding that the entire Genji should be united by forgetting ethnicity, language and party. ’
Stating that the incumbent government was not formed merely to postpone the 2084 local elections, he said the government should be committed to address the aspirations and demands of the movement.
The organization, which has been holding a precautionary meeting at Maitighar demanding Jenji unity, has said that the protest will continue until their demands are met. Jyotika Rai, a Jenji unity campaigner, said that they have demanded that the government itself should take initiative and call on all Genji youths to be united and they will continue their protest until this demand is met.
