Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has disconnected the power supply to all industries that have not paid their dues of dedicated feeders and trunk lines. Out of the 25 industries that have not paid their dues, the power supply of six industries was cut on the morning of Laxmi Puja (October 19). The power supply to the remaining 19 industries was disconnected on Friday evening, according to NEA.
The NEA had issued a notice to the consumers who have taken electricity supply from dedicated feeders and truck lines to pay the outstanding electricity tariff within 21 days as per the decision of the board of directors of NEA on September 26. The deadline taken by the authority had expired on October 2.
Manoj Silwal, managing director of NEA, has said that he is determined to pay the dues as per the law. He had been saying that the power of all the industrialists who did not pay the dues would be cut as they had to move ahead as per the decision of the government. Power supply to all industrialists has been disrupted since Friday evening.
The power supply to Jagdamba Steel, Reliance Spinning Mills, Shivam Cement, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement Industries and Triveni Spinning Mills was cut off on October 19. The remaining 19 lines were cut off on Friday. According to NEA, Jagadamba has to pay Rs 1.60 billion, Reliance Rs 753.7 million, Shivam Rs 778.8 million, Ghorahi Rs 508.5 million, Arghakhanchi Rs 448.4 million and Triveni Rs 321 million.
This arrears are for additional charges for the use of dedicated and trunk lines from January 2015 to April 2075.
As of October 19, 13 industries have cleared their dues. 10 industries have already made payments. Arihant Multifiber, Raghupati Jute Mill, Baba Jute Mill, United Cement, Maruti Cement and Polypacs have issued stay orders from the court. The deposit of Dabur Nepal, Far-Western Air Office has been confiscated. Hetauda and Udayapur cement have been shut down,” Silwal told Nivesh News.
According to NEA, Ashok Steel Industries Ltd, Samrat Cement Industries Ltd, Hulas Steel Industries, Rolpa Cement Ltd, Laxmi Steel Industries Ltd, Hama Iron and Steel Ltd, Nawa Nepal Plastic Industries, Sarbottam Cement, GB Textile, Shubhashree Agni Cement and Rubber Industry among others have paid their dues till October 18.
According to NEA, Hama Iron and Steel Industries of Simara has paid Rs 2 million 90,000 as the first installment out of the total arrears of Rs 58.5 million.
Laxmi Steel of Parasi has paid Rs 84.98 lakh as installment. Sarbottam Cement paid Rs 40 lakh. Hulas Steel Industries Pvt. Ltd. has started paying dues for consuming electricity from dedicated trunk line from January 2072 to April 2075. The total outstanding amount of the industry is Rs 14 crore 12 lakh 5 thousand and the NEA has approved to pay the amount in 28 installments. Hulas has paid Rs 50.43 lakh as the first installment.
Similarly, Ashok Steel Company of Simara-based has started paying arrears of Rs 17.58 crore in installments. According to the NRA, Ashok has paid Rs 6.3 million as the first installment of the facility of 28 installments. The Samrat Cement Industry has paid Rs 4 million 47,000 in three installments in one go.
Rolpa Cement has paid Rs 17.70 lakh in five installments at a time. Similarly, Nawa Nepal Plastic Industries has paid Rs 123,000 each in 12 installments. Shubhashree Agni Cement has paid Rs 3,55,000 as first installment out of dues of Rs 9.8 million.

Consumers willing to pay the amount in monthly installments will get a maximum of 28 months’ installments. KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has stated that action will be taken as per the Electricity Tariff Collection Bylaw, 2078 BS if the dues are not paid within the stipulated time.
The notice was published on May 26, 2082 and April 30, 2082 for administrative review by the consumers who had been in arrears of electricity tariff from January 2015 to Baisakh 2075 for consuming electricity through dedicated feeder and trunk line of NEA.
“The decision to extend the deadline and all actions related to administrative review are null and void as per the decision of the Board of Directors on September 26,” the statement reads.
