Chitwan. As many as 139 of them, including 11 Indian nationals, are yet to return home. They and two children have also not come into contact.

A total of 743 inmates and four minors escaped from the prison on September 10. Of them, 591 have returned to Nepal and nine others have been sent to prison. Office Chief Rabindra Prasad Dhungana said that along with them, two children have also come into contact.

Those who had come in contact earlier have also gone missing. Dhungana said that the contact addresses of those who have gone missing have been sent to the concerned police units. He said that most of those who have gone out of contact are drug addicts and forced laborers. Among those absconding is a rare one-horned rhino poacher.

The prison office had requested all to come in contact with the prison office till October 20. The prison had said action would be taken as per the Prison Act 2079 BS and prevailing laws if they failed to come in contact within the stipulated time. He said that action would be taken against those providing shelter to the absconding prisoners if found providing shelter to the absconding prisoners. The rest are from Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta) East and other districts.

Police have arrested 62 of them from different places and handed them over to jail. Chief of District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Govinda Puri said all units were searching for the absconding prisoners. “We need support and cooperation from all to nab the absconding person,” he said. ’
