Import and export both increased by mid-September

Kathmandu. Both imports and exports have increased till mid-October of the current fiscal year. Goods worth Rs 4.68 trillion have been imported till mid-October. This is 19.79 percent more than the previous year. The country had imported goods worth Rs 390.75 billion till mid-September of the last fiscal year.

Export trade has reached Rs 72.78 billion till mid-September this year. This is 89.64 percent more than the same period last year. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 38.37 billion in the last fiscal year.

Similarly, the trade deficit stood at Rs 395.30 billion as of mid-September. This is 12.18 percent more than the previous year. In the last fiscal year, there was a trade deficit of Rs 352 billion.

The share of imports in the international trade has decreased by 4.96 percent to 86.54 percent. According to the data of the Department of Customs, the share of exports increased by 50.47 percent to 13.46 percent. Imports amounted to Rs 1.63 trillion in September alone. Exports worth Rs 25 billion have been made.
