Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has ordered the government to appear before the court regarding the decision to repatriate the ambassadors.
A single bench of Justice Binod Sharma has scheduled the hearing on November 30 for hearing on the interim order.
What’s going on with it? Why should the order as demanded by the petitioner not be issued? “If the order should not have been issued, the applicant should get a written reply through the Office of the Attorney General within 15 days from the date of receipt of this order,” the order reads.
A cabinet meeting held on October 14 had decided to recall the ambassadors of 11 countries.
The government had recalled the ambassadors of China, Germany, Israel, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and Japan. Advocates Pratibha Upreti and Ananta Raj Luitel had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the government’s decision to recall the ambassadors.
The writ petition filed demanding an interim order states that the caretaker government does not have the right to take decision on national issues of long-term importance.
