Jumla. Around one lakh people in the district have been enrolled in the health insurance scheme. Lately, people here have started getting attracted towards health insurance after getting information about the importance of insurance.
A total of 1 lakh 473 people have been enrolled in the health insurance scheme since the implementation of the health insurance scheme in Jumla, according to Prem Bhandari, chief of the Health Insurance Board Office in Jumla.
A total of 3,726 senior citizens, 87 people with severe disabilities and 288 women health volunteers have been enlisted in the health insurance scheme. “More than 13,000 households in the district have been entrusted with the health insurance service,” he said, adding that health insurance service has been expanded in the district since 2074 BS. ’
Earlier, the locals here did not understand the importance of health insurance as it was not fully known. According to Bhandari, the number of locals joining the health insurance scheme has increased after the insurance facilitators went door-to-door to inform them about the health insurance works.
The government has made arrangements to provide free insurance to people with disability, people with disabilities, leprosy patients, HIV patients, senior citizens and extremely poor families. In the case of others, health insurance up to Rs 1 lakh will be provided by charging a fee, according to the office.
The central office of the Health Insurance Board has also made arrangements for co-payment due to the rampant use of insurance. According to the Health Insurance Board Office, a campaign is underway to involve the citizens in the insurance scheme by sending registered assistants at the doorsteps of each ward to make the insurance programme more effective.
