Jhapa. JHAPA: At least 19 passengers were injured in a bus accident at Shivasatakshi municipality-10, Maidhar Chowk in Jhapa district this morning.

The accident took place when the bus (Pra 1-01-001 Ka 4209) en route to Kakarvitta from Manthali skidded off the road and skidded off the road. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said that among the injured, 19 have been rushed to Birtacity Hospital Birtamod for treatment while the remaining six passengers have returned to their respective destinations safely. According to the police, twenty-five passengers were on the spot and there was no obstruction in vehicular movement on the road.

The injured have been identified as bus driver Raju Bhujel, 39, of Mechinagar-6, Jhapa, Iksha Limbu, 17, of Jhapa rural municipality-3, Rabilal Ganesh, 20, of Kachankawal-4, Parina Ganesh, 21, of Kachankawal-4, Simmitra Khadka Karki, 36, of Birtamode – 10 and her son Alon, 9.

Likewise, Ambar Bahadur Budhathoki, 65, of Manthali-10, Ramechhap, Bhim Prasad Puri, 35, of Manthali-9, Ramechhap, Mitu Khatri, 65, of Khandadevi-3, Ramechhap, Pradeep Bahadur Basnet, 30, of Dolakha Baineshwor-3, Anu Shrestha, 8, of Deurali, Ramechhap and Kumar Basyal, 28, of Dolakha Tamakoshi-3 were injured in the accident.

Likewise, the injured are Bhema Rajbanshi, 27, of Kachankawal-6, Jhapa, Ram Kumar Shrestha, 35, of Birtamode – 5, his 9-year-old son Ridam, Purna Bahadur Nepali, 23, of Birtamode – 5, Shital Nepali, 18, of the same locality, Abhishek Rajbanshi, 21, of Bahradashi-5 and Shyam Lal Kisku, 18, of Jhapa rural municipality-2. The condition of the injured passengers is normal to moderate and all are being treated.

According to the preliminary investigation of the police, the bus overturned and further investigation into the incident is underway.
