Bhojpur. The ferry service on the Arun River at Satighat, which connects Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha from the north, has resumed after a gap of 6 months. The ferry service which was closed since May due to rain has been reopened from Monday.

In absence of a concrete bridge over the Arun River, the locals have been resorting to ferry vehicles and daily essentials. The ferry service was halted five months ago after the river level rose during the rainy season. Passengers and locals of the northern part of the district have been facing a lot of difficulty in commuting due to the non-operation of the ferry service. With the resumption of the resumption, the residents of Shadananda Municipality and Salpasilichho Rural Municipality have become easier.

Locals were compelled to carry food items and essentials on their backs through the suspension bridge. The ferry, which came into operation since 2076 BS, has been the main transport route for the northern region till now.

Dipendra Shrestha, a local, said that with the closure of the ferry service, the people have been compelled to carry goods on their backs due to the closure of the suspension bridge. “It has become very easy to resume the resumption after five months,” he said, adding, “Our daily life was very difficult without the resumption of service.” If a concrete bridge was built here, the problem would end forever. ’
