Flights disrupted due to bad weather

Kathmandu. Flights in the country have been generally affected due to bad weather. Both domestic and international flights from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been delayed due to poor visibility.

Currently, international flights have been put on hold for some time. Flights to Tenzing Hillary of Lukla and Simikot of Humla among other airports have been generally affected. General Manager Hansraj Pandey said only Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flights are being operated at the airport at present due to bad weather. He said that even if some flights were delayed, there was no need to cancel them. There is a general increase in the number of flights due to the fixed air route.

At present, there is influence of the westerly wind as well as the low pressure system formed in the Arabian Sea. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely to occur at some places of Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province and Karnali Province and at few places of the hilly and mountainous region until Wednesday morning due to the impact of this system, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said. The sky in Kathmandu Valley has been cloudy since morning.
