Nairobi. At least 12 people were killed in a plane crash in Kenya’s coastal county of Kwale on Tuesday, local authorities said.

The Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed in a statement that a 5Y-CCA plane en route from Diani to Kichwa Tembo in the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve crashed.

KCAA said there were 12 people on board and an investigation was underway to determine the cause and impact of the crash.

A tourist on board a plane en route to the Maasai Mara National Reserve was killed in the crash, police said. The plane belongs to the airline, which operates between Mombasa and other popular tourist destinations in the country.
