According to Devnath Yadav, chief of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, 13 drinking water projects are facing budget shortfall.TAG_OPEN_div_6 The budget is insufficient for the construction and maintenance of water projects like Phidim, Lumphabung, Lungrupa, Pauwasasartap, Khaldekholsi, Durdimba, Suryadhan, Imbung, Ranitar, Rabi Bazaar, Mangjabung and Phaktep among other drinking water projects that are being constructed and repaired with the federal conditional grant.
13 drinking water projects affected due to lack of budget
The office has sent a letter to the Ministry of Drinking Water, Irrigation and Energy after the budget for these projects was not allocated for the fiscal year 208 TAG_OPEN_div_4 2/83. Some drinking water projects have been damaged due to floods and landslides. According to him, a budget of Rs 100 million was demanded for the repair of 15 major disaster-damaged projects within the same fiscal year in the last fiscal year.
