Kathmandu. A total of 16 representatives from the political parties and 14 representatives from the Jenji group are taking part in the tripartite meeting called by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. Office-bearers of major political parties and second-tier leaders are taking part in the meeting to be held at 4:00 pm at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Communications and Information Technology Minister Jagadish Kharel, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Ajaya Bhadra Khanal, among others, will be present on behalf of the government, according to PM’s press coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal. Likewise, 14 participants from Indigenous Genji Collective, How to Country Development and Genji Movement Alliance will participate in the event.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the agenda of the discussion is to create an environment for the upcoming elections scheduled for March 4 and to forge political understanding.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and CPN (UML) central committee member Mahesh Bartaula and CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders Barshaman Pun and Madhav Sapkota are taking part in the meeting today. Similarly, Vice-President Swarnim Wagle and central member Nisha Dangi of Rastriya Swatantra Party and General Secretary Rajendra Gurung and spokesperson Mohan Shrestha of Rastriya Prajatantra Party will be present in the meeting.
The government has been holding talks and discussions with the stakeholders in a phased manner regarding the successful conduct of the House of Representatives election on the announced date. Earlier, a meeting was held between the government and the political parties on October 19 at the call of Prime Minister Karki. Likewise, Prime Minister Karki and Jenji’s group have already held discussions in the presence of President Ram Chandra Poudel.
