Lamjung. The Chame road section, the only Besisahar linking Manang to Manang, has been obstructed due to incessant rainfall since the past few days. According to the District Police Office, Lamjung, the road section has been completely obstructed since 14.30 pm today after the water level at the octopus waterfall at Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4 in Lamjung continued to fall from the road.

Abhishek Pandey, information officer at the Police Office, said that vehicular movement has come to a halt due to the continuous rain and boulders falling from above the road at Jagat and other places. Police have been deployed at the area and the vehicular movement will resume only after the water level recedes and stones stop falling, he said.

Vehicles and passengers have been stranded on the road due to road obstruction. Although there is a crowd of tourists returning from Manang at this time, the road obstruction has caused problems for tourists as well as locals.

Dozens of jeeps and other vehicles are plying on this road. Police said the road could not be brought into operation immediately due to continuous rainfall. Locals of the northern part of Lamjung district as well as residents of mountainous district Manang have been directly affected due to the obstruction of vehicular movement on the road. Of the total 65 kilometres road, 35 kilometres are towards Lamjung and 30 kilometres towards Manang.
