Bhadrapur. The construction of a multi-span suspension bridge over Ninda River that flows through Mechinagar Municipality-15 at a cost of Rs 42 million has made it easier for the locals to travel to Birtamod or Dhulabari.

According to Mechinagar-15 ward chair Gunaraj Bhattarai, the multi-span bridge over the Ninda River has been constructed to connect Chaudhary Chowk and Heldobari at Mechinagar-15.

In the absence of the bridge, one had to walk 10 kilometers to get basic health services, but now one can easily reach the hospital after a one-and-a-half kilometer journey. Bhatbhatiya Rajbanshi, a local, said that the construction of the bridge has made it easier to transport agricultural produce to the haat bazaar and bring daily essentials from there. “Earlier people used to risk their lives risking their lives to cross the river and now we are free from that,” he recalled.
