Sundar Haricha of Morang receives 210 mm rainfall

Kathmandu. The highest rainfall of 210 millimetres has occurred in Sundar Haraicha of Morang in the last 24 hours due to cloudy weather triggered by Cyclone Montha. As per the record, Barmajiya of Saptari received 143 millimetres rainfall.

Dinkar Kayastha, information officer at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, said that the impact of the cyclone has been felt more in Madhes and Koshi province. However, the Bagmati and other states are also experiencing cloudy conditions and rainfall. According to him, it is heavy rain. If the rainfall exceeds 200 millimeters, it is listed as very heavy rainfall.

Information Officer Kayastha said heavy rainfall occurred in many districts in the last 24 hours. Jhapa and Udayapur received 93.6 and 97.6 mm rainfall today. More than two dozen rainfall stations received rainfall between 50 to 80 millimetres. Lalitpur received 72 millimetres rainfall while Kathmandu received 40 millimetres rainfall.

According to Kayastha, the cyclone developed in the Bay of Bengal, lies in the low pressure area around the Madhya Pradesh of India at present and it will be affected by the evening today. After that, things will improve.

There is also some influence of the westerly wind and the low pressure system that has developed in the Arabian Sea in Nepal. The weather is generally cloudy throughout the country at present. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province while heavy rainfall is taking place at many places.
