Supreme Court refuses to issue interim order on Supreme Court order to withhold passports of KP Oli and writer

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to furnish a written response within 15 days on the writ petition filed by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak seeking to stop them from leaving the Kathmandu Valley.

A single bench of Justice Nripa Dhwaj Niraula issued a show cause notice after the preliminary hearing on the writ petition on Friday and sought a written response from the government. Advocate Dr. The writ petition filed by CPN-UML Chairman Prem Raj Silwal on October 28 had sought an interim order against the UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and five others including former Home Minister Lekhak and the government to protect their constitutional and legal rights.

The commission had recommended the suspension of passports of former prime minister Oli, former home minister Ramesh Lekhak, then Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, then chief director of the National Investigation Department, Hutraj Thapa, and then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal.
