Kathmandu. The Department of Passport has made it clear that one thousand passports will be distributed daily.
The Department said it would provide passports to the passengers daily (except public holidays) from this evening. The Department has already signed a purchase agreement with new suppliers for the supply of e-passports in August last year and as per the agreement, new infrastructure and systems are being developed with a view to starting the passport service from Falgun 11.
According to the Department, some problems in passport distribution are due to the transitional situation (handover and takeover) between the new supplier and the existing supplier, the limited number of passport books and high demand from the service seekers.
Necessary initiatives are being taken to ensure that there is no shortage of passport within the stipulated period and the Department has urged all to apply for passport only if necessary until further notice. The Department has drawn the attention of the people not to rely on unauthorized persons regarding passport and to be cautious of possible fraud from such persons.
