Gorkha. Tourists stranded in Manaslu area of Gorkha have been rescued. A total of 110 tourists have been rescued from the area. The rescued tourists, who were injured, sick and unable to go to their destinations due to bad weather.
“We started the rescue operation as soon as the weather set in, Chitrangat Baral said, adding that five helicopters were used to rescue the tourists. Of them, 85 percent were foreign tourists. ’
With the weather clearing, some tourists have descended to Manang via Larke Pass. Some of them were returning to Arughat, said Assistant CDO Baral. He said the rescue operation would be completed in a day or two.
Nima Dorje Lama, a tourism entrepreneur of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-1, Samdo, said that the rural municipality, Manaslu Conservation Area Project, hotel entrepreneurs sub-committee and local youths have been working together to open the road. He said they had gone to clear the roads covered by snowfall and landslide since last Tuesday.
“Some of them went down to Arughat on foot. The sick and disabled were rescued by helicopter. A total of 380 people have gone to Dharamshala from Samdo to pass Larke. They pass Larke and come down to Manang,” said Lama. He said that the number of tourists has not stopped in Samdo.
A total of 6,414 tourists visited the Manaslu region during this season (September 30 to November 30), according to the Manaslu Conservation Area Project. Currently, hundreds of tourists are in the area.

GORKHA: As many as 35 domestic and foreign tourists stranded at Tatopani area of Gorkha district have been rescued. A joint team of Nepal Army and Armed Police Force (APF) rescued 20 foreigners and 15 Nepali tourists from Tatopani of Dharche rural municipality-3, said APF central spokesperson Shailendra Thapa. They were stranded in the hot water due to the landslide while they were heading towards Machhikhola from Samagaun.
A team of Nepal Army and Armed Police Force (APF) rescued the tourists and sent them to Machhikhola. The health condition of the rescued tourists is said to be normal.
