Kathmandu. This is the first time that frozen french fries have been exported from Nepal to the United States. The Bhairahawa Customs Office today exported frozen French fries to the United States.

Frozen French fries produced by Rupandehi-based First Choice Foods have been exported to the United States. According to the Customs Office, 43,520 kg of French fries worth Rs 54,88,158 were exported.

The French fries produced by First Choice Food Limited, a subsidiary of Quality Food Products operated by Rupandehi-based businessman Krishna Poudel, have been exported to the United States via Kolkata Port from Bhairahawa Customs.

The factory, which runs with an investment of Rs 2 billion, has been producing dishes including French fries by purchasing potatoes produced by 35,000 farmers of 26 districts of Nepal.

The export is believed to contribute to the development of Nepali industries, earn foreign currency and build entrepreneurship by making food products of Nepal a competitive market like the USA.

The entry of Nepali French fries in the US market is expected to open doors for more Nepali products to expand globally in the future.
