Mustang. MUSTANG: The Mustang-Dolpa road section has been obstructed for the past 10 days. The road section has been obstructed due to heavy snowfall.
According to the Road Division Office, Mustang, the road from Pakling of Mustang to Dolpa via Sangta village under the Mustang-Dolpa road section has been extended to Chuksamba. The Road Division Office, Baglung has decided to upgrade the Mustang-Dolpa road and open a new track to transport goods to Jomsom of Upper Dolpa and to Pokhara-Kathmandu.
Likewise, the Mustang-Dolpa road was widened to transport goods from Mustang to Upper Dolpa and to bring sheep and mountain goats to Mustang.
The Mustang-Dolpa road section has been obstructed due to heavy snowfall, said ward chair of Waragung Mukti Chhetra-5 Surendra Gurung.
Transportation of goods and vehicles from Jomsom to Chhuksamb has not been possible due to road obstruction. Ward Chair Gurung said they have demanded the Road Division Office, Baglung, to clear the snow on the Mustang-Dolpa road section and resume the road.
Similarly, power, internet and mobile services have been disrupted at Sangta village bordering Mustang and Dolpa due to heavy snowfall a week ago, said Chhiring Palsang Gurung, a ward member of the district.
A year ago, the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) had illuminated 13 households in Sangta village by installing solar panels in coordination with the rural municipality. The locals who depend on agriculture and animal husbandry stay in their villages for eight months during the rainy season and survive the winter in four months in Falak, Jomsom and other places.
