Birgunj. Goods worth Rs 218.10 billion have been imported through Birgunj border point in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
In the same period of the last fiscal year, the import of goods increased by 19 percent or more than Rs 34.23 billion.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, goods worth Rs 183.87 billion were imported into Nepal in the first three months of the last fiscal year. Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief customs administrator at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of goods via Birgunj customs point has increased sharply in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
Petroleum products worth Rs 38.09 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first three months of the current fiscal year. Imports of iron and iron goods worth Rs 19.84 billion have been imported. Machinery and spare parts worth Rs 15.57 billion were imported during the same period. Crude oil worth Rs 14.80 billion has been imported.
Similarly, fertiliser worth Rs 12.81 billion was imported. All types of garments worth Rs 12.16 billion have been imported. Imports of electric machinery, equipment and parts worth Rs 12.06 billion have been imported. According to the Birgunj Customs Office, vehicles and their spare parts worth Rs 10.12 billion were imported in the review period.
