Kathmandu. Police have arrested a defendant involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee fraud case and produced him before the court.

Police have arrested Ranjan Kumar Kharel, 42, of Fatuwa Harsah-9 of Rautahat district on his involvement in the case.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shiva Kumar Shrestha, Spokesperson of CIB, said that Kharel was involved in the fraud by colluding with gangs to collect money through cash and cheque, and to recover money from the victims by forging documents.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that Kharel was arrested acting on a tip-off based on a tip-off and was presented before the Kathmandu District Court for further action.

In the fiscal year 2079/80, a case was filed against Kharel at the District Police Range, Kathmandu on charges of forgery, forgery of documents, treasonous state and organized crime. He has been absconding since then.
