Biratnagar. According to the Directorate of Agricultural Development, Biratnagar, paddy worth Rs 2.05 billion has been damaged in Koshi Province due to incessant rains. Koshi Province had witnessed incessant rainfall from the first week of November to the 17th of November.
Directorate’s information officer Purnamaya Gurung said that 2,000 metric tons of vegetables planted in 200 hectares of land in Sunsari district were damaged due to incessant rains.
According to Information Officer Gurung, paddy crops were planted in 4,364 hectares of land in Jhapa, 3,421 hectares in Morang, 2,851 hectares in Sunsari, 323 hectares in Udayapur, 268 hectares in Ilam, 144 hectares in Panchthar, 120 hectares in Taplejung, 118 hectares in Dhankuta, 157 hectares in Tehrathum, 250 hectares in Bhojpur, 200 hectares in Khotang, 76 hectares in Okhaldhunga, 15 hectares in Solukhumbu and 125 hectares in Sankhuwasabha.
Paddy was planted in 268,765 hectares of land in Koshi Province, of which 12,432 hectares of paddy and 200 hectares of vegetable crops were damaged by unseasonal rains.
In the district, Morang has Rs 78 crore 11 lakh 56 thousand, Sunsari Rs 45 crore 31 lakh 72 thousand, Udayapur Rs 4 crore, Udayapur Rs 4 crore 62 lakh 53 thousand, Ilam Rs 3 crore 21 lakh 41 thousand, Panchthar Rs 1 crore 22 lakh 17 thousand, Taplejung Rs 1 crore 22 lakh 43 thousand and Dhankuta Rs 1 crore 39 lakh 40 thousand. Paddy crops worth Rs 13.3 million were damaged in Tehrathum, Rs 26.492 million in Bhojpur, Rs 16.11 million in Khotang, Rs 68.02 million in Okhludhunga, Rs 14.66 lakh in Solukhumbu and Rs 11.18 million in Sankhuwasabha.
