Chitwan. The Inland Revenue Office, Bharatpur, is yet to clear the dues of 5,715 customers. More than Rs 1.54 billion revenue is yet to be collected from them.
Office Information Officer Ram Kumar Adhikari said the office has already informed customers through SMS to collect the outstanding dues.
“We have been sending messages to collect the dues,” he said. We are confident that customers will come. He said that the office has been conducting taxpayer education, door-to-door program, correspondence by preparing the list of taxpayers according to the municipality and ward and collecting tours. Among the customers who are yet to pay dues, the bank accounts of 22 have been frozen and two have released their accounts after paying tax.
The office has collected Rs 5.51 billion in revenue till mid-October. According to him, the revenue department has been able to collect 97.47 per cent of the target.
According to him, the department had set a target of collecting Rs 5.65 billion in revenue. The office, which was burnt down in the Jenji movement, started its service on September 29. He said that there are more than 72,000 taxpayers in this office.
