Kathmandu. Former CPN (UML) lawmaker Devi Prasad Bhattachan has been released on bail.

Bhattachan, who is also the chairman of Prabhu Group, was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on October 26 for questioning. Bhattachan was released on daily bail on Tuesday.

According to the CIB, Bhattachan’s lawyer had appealed for his release on bail after his health deteriorated. He was released on bail on Tuesday.

Bhattachan was arrested by the CIB on charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal gain and the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058 BS.

Earlier, Kusum Lama, chairman of Prabhu Management, had filed a complaint against Bhattachan.
