Bhojpur. The farmers here are busy harvesting paddy at this time. With the end of Dashain and Tihar, the process of bringing ripe paddy to the fields has increased in the villages. Since early morning, farmers have been busy piling paddy, tying bundles and drying paddy.
Farmers who could not store paddy on time due to incessant rain some time ago have now started storing paddy with improvement in the weather. Bhimsen Phuyal, a farmer of Bhojpur Municipality-5, said, “We farmers are busy threshing paddy. The rain was delayed for some time but now that the weather has opened, we are relieved. We are working hard to store the paddy in our fields. ’
Kamala Thapa, a local farmer, said although the rain has caused some damage to the crops, works are on to store the rest of the crops. “The rains have damaged the paddy crop a bit,” he said, “but we are working to store what is left.” Now our main job is to store the paddy. ’
Farmers have estimated that the production will decrease compared to the previous year due to unseasonal rains and the problems of pests and diseases. Paddy is the main crop of the farmers here. Paddy is cultivated in all nine local levels of the district.
