Humla. The district headquarters, Simkot, has been in darkness for the past four days. The power supply has been disrupted due to failure at the only Hildum Hydropower Distribution Centre in the district headquarters.

All the works of electricity have been affected due to lack of other sources of electricity. Although some government offices have installed ‘solar’ at this time, it is difficult to charge mobile phones as there is not much sunlight during winter.

Journalist Narjung Tamang said that they have been facing problems in news collection and dissemination as they have not been able to charge mobile phones and laptops. Jitendra Shah, chief engineer at the distribution center, said that the power supply has been halted due to maintenance of structures including the powerhouse of Hildum Power Distribution Center, which supplies electricity to the district headquarters Simkot and Kharpunath rural municipalities.

Assistant Chief District Officer Rajendra Chand reached the repair site and instructed to expedite the repair work. He further said that works are underway to restore power supply by Saturday.

Likewise, the repair of the water leakage in the canal from the source to the canal has also been completed.
