Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Kiwas, Kulman Ghising, on Saturday made an onsite inspection of waste management and road maintenance along the Bagmati River corridor area.
The team had taken on-site information about the Bagmati River bank and drainage management along the stretch from Guheshwori to Sundarijal, road expansion and up-gradation.
Minister Ghising said that problems related to drainage management and road improvement along the Bagmati river corridor would be resolved immediately.
He also pledged to resolve the problems seen in the road construction and maintenance between the Department of Roads, Kathmandu Valley Development Authority and the High Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee in the river corridor areas of the Kathmandu Valley.
“We have been working with a sewage management plan in the short-term and long-term as the city will be clean only if the rivers in the Kathmandu Valley are cleaned,” he said. Such vehicles should be removed immediately,” he said.
“If one hundred meters of the road on the left bank of the Bagmati River near Gokarneshwor Temple is widened, vehicles can pass directly towards the Gokarneshwor temple from Makalbari,” he said. He urged the government to expedite the construction of remaining bridges for the expansion of Chabahil-Sundarijal road.
