Kathmandu. Deposit mobilization of banks and financial institutions increased by 3 percent while credit to the private sector increased by 1.5 percent.
According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, the growth rate of deposits has increased by 13 percent on a year-on-year basis while the growth rate of credit to the private sector has increased by 7.3 percent. Deposits of banks and financial institutions (BFIs) increased by 3 percent (Rs 218.72 billion) to Rs 7.482 trillion as of mid-October 2018.
Such deposits had increased by 2.6 percent (Rs 170 billion) in the same period of the previous year. Deposits in banks and financial institutions (BFIs) have increased by 13 percent in mid-October. The share of current, savings and fixed deposits in the total deposits of banks and financial institutions stood at 6.4 percent, 38.7 percent and 46.4 percent, respectively.
Such shares were 5.4 percent, 32.7 percent and 54.8 percent respectively in the same period of the previous year. The share of institutional deposits in the total deposits of banks and financial institutions stood at 35.3 percent as of mid-October.
The share of such deposits was 35.8 percent in mid-October. In the review period, credit flow from banks and financial institutions to the private sector increased by 1.5 percent (Rs 82.93 billion) to Rs 5.58 trillion.
Such loans had increased by 2.5 percent (Rs 1.28 billion) in the same period of the previous year. On a year-on-year basis, loans from banks and financial institutions to the private sector increased by 7.3 percent in mid-October 2018. As of mid-October 2008, the share of credit disbursed to the private sector by BFIs, the share of credit to the non-financial institutional sector was 62.8 percent and the share of credit to the individual and household sector was 37.2 percent.
Such shares were 64.0 percent and 36.0 percent respectively in the same period of the previous year. During this period, the credit flow of commercial banks increased by 1.6 percent, development banks by 0.5 percent and finance companies by 1.6 percent.
