Department of Commerce seeks suggestions on market level and pricing criteria

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has urged the government to provide necessary suggestions to determine the market level and standards of goods and services.

According to the Department, the committee has been formed under the coordination of Director General of the Department, Roshan Gyawali, representing the private sector and other stakeholders to submit a study report to determine the market level and the price of goods and services as per Clause 13 of the Consumer Protection Act-2075 BS.

According to the department, it has been decided to collect suggestions from citizens and consumers for preparing a draft of the standards related to market level and pricing. The Department has made it clear that there is a need for a clear definition of the existing market structure keeping in mind the need of uniformity, transparency and regulation in pricing of goods and services, price control, consumer protection and market balance as well as market rules.
