Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has submitted its annual report to the government on Sunday. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) have become angry after the central bank submitted its report to the ministry.

Governor Prof Dr Bishwanath Poudel submitted the annual income and expenditure report for the fiscal year 2081/82 to the government through Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal on Sunday.

The interim government formed after the Genji agitation of September 23 and the destruction of the 24 has decided to cut the expenditure and manpower of government and public enterprises in the third week of October. In the meantime, the amount of the welfare fund that the employees of the board have been using for many years has been stopped following a letter from the Ministry of Finance. The ministry has claimed that the facilities provided without approving the work procedure have been stopped.

The annual report approved by the central bank’s board of directors last Friday has provided facilities similar to that of the board. The bank has allocated Rs 752.9 million under the head of Employees Welfare Provident Fund (EPF) as bonus to 1,200 employees.

The employees of the board have demanded that the facility provided on the basis of the bank’s employee service bylaw should be mentioned in the Act. Otherwise, they say that their facilities provided as per the working procedure approved by the ministry cannot be reduced.

The facility allocated by the Rastra Bank is Rs 6 lakh per employee when it is distributed equally. According to the new rules, the governor and deputy will get at least Rs 13 lakh, the executive director Rs 12 lakh, the director Rs 10 lakh, the old deputy director Rs 8 lakh and the new one Rs 5 lakh.

Most of the assistant level assistants get at least Rs 4 lakh, while the old office assistant will get Rs 5 lakh as bonus employee welfare fund. Earlier, 12 percent of the salary received by all these employees on July 17 has also been deposited in the same account.

In the fiscal year 2079/80, the bank has provided Rs 42 billion to the government after allocating Rs 80.48 billion from its net income. Last year, Rs 37.22 billion was given to the government and Rs 733.5 million was distributed as bonus to the employees.
