Second edition of NPL kicks off today, CAN expects to earn around Rs 40 crore

Kathmandu. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is kicking off the Nepal Premier League (NPL) from today.

On the first day, the opening match will be played between defending champions Janakpur Bolts and Kathmandu Gorkhas. The match will start at 4:00 pm Nepali time at the TU ground in Kirtipur. Most of this season’s NPL matches will be played under the floodlights of the newly built TU Cricket Ground.

The last match of the league round of the NPL will be played between Karnali Yaks and Janakpur Bolts on Sunday, December 7. The first qualifier for the playoffs will be played on December 9.

The Eliminator will be played on December 10 and the second qualifier will be played on December 11. The final will be played on Saturday, December 13. CAN has scheduled all the matches at 11:15 am and 4:00 pm. The match will start at 4 pm on the day of the two matches and on the day of the only match.

CAN has also announced that four league matches will be held at 3:30 pm. The final will begin at 3:30 p.m. According to CAN, the second season will earn between Rs 35 to 40 crore.

According to CAN, it will raise Rs 153 million from sponsors, Rs 90 million from participating teams, Rs 530 million from OTT and Rs 8-12 crore from tickets. The winning team will get Rs 11 million, while the runner-up will get Rs 51 lakh, the third Rs 25 lakhs and the fourth Rs 15 lakh.

CAN has divided the tickets for the NPL games into two categories. These include general and premium. Tickets for the opening day and Saturday are priced at Rs 500 for general tickets and Rs 1500 for premium tickets.

Tickets for the games are priced at Rs 500 for general and Rs 1,000 for premium tickets. For the playoffs and finals, tickets are priced at Rs 1,000 for general tickets and Rs 2,000 for premium tickets. CAN has also arranged for season pass for spectator who wants to watch all the matches of the tournament, which costs Rs 15,000.

The official ticketing partner of the tournament is ‘Khalti by IME’ and the viewers can easily purchase their tickets through Khalti app.
