Kathmandu. The food hygiene in the canteen and hostel dining room of Padma Kanya College has been found to be poor. According to food technologist Anil Basnet, a joint monitoring team by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control found that even basic hygiene was found to be weak in these places.
The college is located in Bagbazar of Ward No. 28 of the metropolis. During the inspection, 700 grams of expired chow mein was destroyed from the canteen. The college’s boarding dining hall was also poorly maintained. Food items were haphazardly stored in the storeroom.
The smoke fan in the kitchen was broken and the food preparation area was covered with black garbage. There is no method of controlling pests in the kitchen. This restaurant is P. K. It is operated by Canteen House and Restaurant.
