Supreme Court directs Madhes Province Chief Minister not to carry out any personal and long-term works

. The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order to Madhes Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav not to take any policy and long-term decision until the case is settled.

A division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokhrel issued the interim order not to take any decision on the case that would have policy and long-term implications in the province until the final settlement of the case.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The order reads, “Prima facie, a serious question has been raised about the norms and transparency of parliamentary democracy envisaged by the constitution in the process of appointment of the Chief Minister.”TAG_OPEN_div_16 ”

According to Article 16 (4) of the Constitution of Nepal, the court has also ordered not to do anything against the norms and values of the parliamentary process followed in the process of obtaining a vote of confidence.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The Supreme Court has scheduled the last hearing on the writ petition filed by Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Krishna Prasad Yadav and members of the State Assembly of the opposition parties on November 26.TAG_OPEN_div_12

A total of 74 members of the Madhes Province Assembly had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the Province Chief to appoint Saroj Kumar Yadav, the leader of the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party, as per the Article 168 (3) of the Constitution.TAG_OPEN_div_10
