Bagmati Province collects over Rs 11.5 billion revenue in first four months

Kathmandu. In the first four months of the current fiscal year, the Bagmati Province government has collected 17.18 per cent of the target or Rs 11.59 billion in revenue.

Land registration and vehicle tax are the main sources of revenue collection by the provincial government. Information Officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development, Suraj Poudel, said that the revenue was collected in the fiscal year 2082/83 against the estimated revenue collection of Rs 30.89 billion in the fiscal year 2082/83.

In the current fiscal year 2082÷83, the target of collecting Rs 7.70 billion revenue from the head of real estate registration has been collected in the fiscal year 208283.

Likewise, the provincial government has collected 28.2 per cent or Rs 2.31 billion in revenue till mid-November from the estimated Rs 8.25 billion under the head of vehicle tax under vehicle test pass, route permit, distribution and renewal of driving license.

The provincial government was supposed to collect Rs 8.79 billion as Value Added Tax (VAT) against which it has collected Rs 2.49 billion in the current period. According to the ministry, the government has received Rs 843.62 million against the estimated excise duty of Rs 4.03 billion.

Similarly, the government was supposed to receive Rs 14.81 billion under the equalization grant from the federal government, but only 3.46 billion or 3.46 billion was received in the first four months, said Information Officer Poudel.

In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the provincial government was expected to collect Rs 4.77 billion from internal sources but only Rs 1.13 billion or 23.70 per cent of the target was received.
