Cabinet approves procurement of 7 lakh e-passports

Kathmandu. The government has decided to purchase 7 lakh electronic passports for the interim period.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today gave permission to the Department to purchase passport through variation order with the existing supplier company for the interim period until passport is issued as per the new agreement, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel.

The meeting also gave approval to the delegation led by Chiranjibi Chataut, secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, to participate in the seventh meeting of the joint working committee and joint board of the Nepal-Bangladesh energy sector to be held in Dhaka on November 26 and 26.

The government has also decided to promote one Nepali Army personnel from Colonel to Brigadier General and one from Brigadier General to Brigadier General. The meeting also decided to appoint Deepak Shrestha of Gorkha as the member-secretary of the Lumbini Development Trust (Lumbini Development Council).

The meeting also decided to approve the organizational structure and positions of the Consumer Court and Children’s Court. Likewise, Reena Rana, member of the Indigenous Nationalities Commission, has been given permission to participate in a women’s seminar to be held in Lhasa city of Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region of China from November 23 to 28.
