Sunsari. A fire broke out at a jute mill at Duhabi municipality-8, Sonapur in Sunsari district.
The fire that broke out at the Jute Mill operated by Raj Kumar Golchha at around 4.35 pm today has not been brought under control yet, said the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Chandra Khadka.
“The fire has spread rapidly from the interior as it is easily combustible due to the presence of thread,” he said. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained, he added.
A total of 15 police personnel from the District Police Office, Sunsari and eight fire engines have been mobilized from Biratnagar, Duhabi, Devangunj, Ramdhuni, Sundarharaicha, Baraha Chettrina and Dharan to douse the fire. According to him, the fire is being doused with the joint efforts of the fire brigade and security personnel.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary reports suggest that short circuit might have caused the fire, he said, adding that further details would be collected once the fire is fully brought under control.
