Kathmandu. Nepal has suffered a trade deficit of Rs 515 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year. According to the data released by the Department of Customs today, Nepal has exported goods and services worth Rs 93.49 billion.
In the first four months, goods worth Rs 609 billion were imported from abroad. This is 18.71 percent more than the imports in the review period of the last fiscal year. In the first four months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 513.38 billion were imported. According to the data of four months, the import of goods has been the lowest in November. According to the Department, goods worth Rs 141 billion were imported in November.
Similarly, imports amounted to Rs 162.92 billion in September, Rs 162.11 billion in August and Rs 143.04 billion in mid-July. Among the major imported goods, the trade deficit has increased due to the import of raw soybean, diesel and petrol.
Likewise, soybean oil, cardamom, carpet and sunflower oil were also exported to the country. During the same period, Nepal collected Rs 157.27 billion in revenue from import of goods.
