Kathmandu. The government has already contributed nearly one billion rupees to the social security fund launched by the government to bring the general public under the ambit of social security.
According to the fund, the total contribution amount has reached Rs 95.44 billion so far.
So far, the number of employers listed in the fund has reached 22,309. Similarly, the number of listed contributors has reached 26,41,189. The fund has so far paid claims amounting to Rs 17.64 billion.
According to the fund, the amount of medical treatment, health and maternity claim amounted to Rs 2.51 billion and accident and disability claim amounted to Rs 22,86,53,475.
Similarly, the dependent family security claim amount is Rs 29,07,72,116 and the retirement claim amount is Rs 14.61 billion.
The effectiveness of the fund has also increased after the government made it mandatory for the workers going for foreign employment to compulsorily participate in the fund. Self-employed workers, working workers of industrial establishments and various organizations can become contributors by participating in the Labor Fund.
Regular contributors to the fund are entitled to benefits under medical treatment, pension and accident disability protection scheme, dependent family security scheme, old age security scheme.
There have been calls for more creative plans to make the fund more effective. As the amount of contribution to the fund increases, the need to look for other sources of investment has increased.
