Kathmandu. The Bagmati River corridor is to be illuminated. The lights will be installed on the river bank from Gokarna to Balkhu along the Bagmati corridor. A modern CCTV will be installed to monitor the area.

The High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilization under the Ministry of Urban Development is to install modern CCTV surveillance system and high-mast smart lighting system to effectively control the growing garbage management problem, unauthorized activities and security challenges in the Gokarna-Balkhu area along the Bagmati River Corridor.

The committee has already called for tender for the selection of contractors for the installation of lamps and CCTVs. If garbage is dumped in the river and on the river banks, it will be monitored through CCTV.

According to the police, 120 modern cameras will be equipped with temperature, dust and water resistant cameras and a server and monitoring unit will be set up at the Kathmandu Valley Police Office. A total of 567 smart street lights, 48 floodlights and 6 high-mast floodlights will be installed.

The installation of CCTV and lights will also support the ongoing Bagmati Cleanup Mega Campaign. With the installation of CCTV and street lights, the security in the area, surveillance, prevention of criminal and unsystematic activities and improvement in the night lighting system will make the overall environment safe and systematic.
