Kathmandu. Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) in collaboration with the German Development Corporation (GIZ) has successfully completed the capacity building programme for the development and implementation of energy efficiency credit mechanism in Nepal under the REEP-Green project.
On Tuesday, the Bankers’ Association discussed the bank’s role in promoting energy efficiency and the opportunities it created. Investments in energy efficiency by banks will help industries reduce energy consumption and operating costs, thereby supporting sustainable economic development of Nepal and thereby moving Nepal towards a competitive industrial economy.
The program was organized in major industrial areas including Kathmandu, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Chitwan and Nepalgunj. The program was attended by more than 200 officials of more than 200 banks including the provincial chiefs and branch managers of 8 banks. The closing ceremony was held in Kathmandu in the presence of senior officials of the bank.
