Three arrested in Jhapa for looting weapons from Kathmandu

Jhapa. Police have arrested three persons from Damak of Jhapa who were robbed of two pistols from the Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu during the demonstration on September 7 and 24. Police also recovered two pistols and 20 rounds of bullets from them.

The arrestees have been identified as Bishwo Lingden, 29, of Damak-6, Saroj Puri, 26, of Damak-9 and Pawan Hangsungwa, 30, of Chulachuli-4, Ilam.

A police team led by Sub Inspector Kumar Somesh Lamichhane from Narcotics Control Bureau branch office, Kakarbhitta and a police team from Damak Area Police Office arrested Saroj Puri from his rented room at Damak-8 on Monday night.

Police confiscated a Type-54 Chinese pistol and 15 rounds of bullets from his possession. After preliminary investigation, he was handed over to the Area Police Office.

During interrogation, Puri told police that he had kept another weapon with Vishwa Lingden. Based on this, the police reached Lingden’s house and arrested him. During further interrogation, Bishwa Lingden confessed that he had sold the weapon to Pawan Hangsungwa of Chulachuli-4 in Ilam for Rs 20,000. Later, a joint team of Narcotics Control Bureau branch office, Kakarvitta and Area Police Office reached Bari of Hangsungwa.

According to the police, a large Chape Type-54 Chinese pistol was found loaded with a pistol and five rounds of bullets hidden in a red plastic bag. Hangsung has also been taken under control and brought to Damak. Police said that the three have been sent to Kathmandu for necessary action along with both the arms and 20 rounds of bullets.
