Chargesheet filed against 10 including Mayor Goit for corruption in awarding contract for ghat construction

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge sheet at the Special Court against 10 persons, including former mayor of Kamala Municipality, Dhanusha Ram Udgar Goit.

According to CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel, the charge sheet was filed on the charge of filling the mud in the pond near Lagma Bazaar and embezzling public property in the construction of the ghat.

According to the CIAA, the contract was awarded to Infrastructure S&B Builders Pvt Ltd without signing an agreement with Set Square Construction Pvt Ltd which received the lowest bid (Rs 4,274,551.71) in the project which was estimated to cost Rs 7.5 million for the fiscal year 2076÷77.

The commission investigation found that the municipality officials had concealed the documents submitted by Set Square Construction and destroyed the bank guarantee and decided not to give the agreement.

The NHRC has concluded that the government money worth Rs 2,944,137.29 was embezzled by the contractual manipulation of the contract with Infrastructure S&B Builders Pvt Ltd on June 4, 2020.

Executive members Dhaneshwor Yadav, Dharmanath Mandal, Paltu Kawari, Binod Ram, Samsul Miya Momin, Officiating Chief Administrative Officer Birendra Kumar Sadhan, accountant Sanjeev Kumar Mahato, Jinsi section chief Jugal Kishor Yadav and chairman of the contractor Santosh Kumar Yadav have been named as defendants in the chargesheet.
