Kathmandu. Road ambulances have been brought into operation to repair potholes and potholes on the roads of Kathmandu. Road Maintenance Ambulance has been brought into use for the first time in Nepal.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising inaugurated the use of road maintenance ambulance by the Road Division Office, Kathmandu on Thursday. Ambulances will be used for immediate repair of roads of strategic importance in Kathmandu district which fall under the jurisdiction of the Road Division Office, Kathmandu.
Likewise, a mobile app has been brought into operation to immediately inform about the potholes and potholes seen on the road. In which the condition of the pothole can be taken and uploaded immediately and its updated details can be kept after repair.
On the occasion, Minister Ghising said that the road ambulance system has been used as a model in Nepal and it would be expanded to other major cities to address the complaints received for road maintenance. He stressed the need to make road maintenance service delivery more effective by installing modern equipment like in developed countries.
Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Keshav Kumar Sharma and Director General of the Department of Roads Bijaya Jaishi expressed the belief that the use of road ambulances would immediately address the complaints received regarding the road repair.
Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Ishwar Raj Poudel, said that the ambulance service would help make the road repair work effective and transparent.
Chief of the Road Division Kathmandu, Subodh Kumar Devkota, said that the ambulance would be ready 365 days and 24 hours a day.
Along with the ambulance, a trained technical team will reach the pothole spot and repair the work will be completed quickly. There are warning lights for traffic management during work hours. Emergency repairs can be done even during rush hour.
