Genji Agitation: Insurance claims for Rs 23.43 billion damages, more than Rs 4 billion paid

Kathmandu. Insurance claims amounting to Rs 23.43 billion have been made for damages caused during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24. According to the Insurance Authority, 3,255 insurance claims have been filed by non-life insurance companies. Out of this, Rs 4.02 billion has been paid to the insured so far.

According to NEA, out of the total claim amount paid, around Rs 3.09 billion out of 695 claims towards property insurance has been paid and Rs 3.84 billion out of 2,295 claims towards motor insurance has been paid.

Similarly, 209 claims for engineering and contract risk insurance have been paid for Rs 550.4 million, for 12 claims for transport insurance, Rs 16.9 million for 12 claims, Rs 39.18 million for 44 claims and Rs 39 million out of claims amounted.

The reinsurance company has paid about Rs 2.51 billion in advance to the insurers. Nepal Reinsurance Company has paid Rs 2.51 billion upfront to non-life insurance companies.

Nepal Reinsurance Company has a total claim amount of Rs 15.81 billion for 2,860 reinsurance claims.
