Kathmandu. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a double-digit fall this week. The overall market index rose by 4 points from Sunday to Thursday.
As of Thursday, the NEPSE index reached 2676.03 points. According to Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), a total of 629,99,604 units of shares were traded at a total of Rs 32.17 billion during the week. Except for Tuesday, the turnover was more than six billion rupees on all days while Tuesday’s turnover was limited to five billion rupees.
On Thursday, the NEPSE index increased by 39.92 points to close at 2,600.22 points. A total of 123,76,471 units of shares were traded at Rs 6.19 billion on the day. Most of the sub-indices except for the collective investment group rose. People’s Hydropower Company Ltd fell 7.56 percent to the biggest losers, following a positive circuit in the shares of Sagar Distillery, Bandipur Cable Car and Jhapa Energy.
Likewise, the NEPSE index increased by 50.44 points to close at 2650.66 points on Tuesday. A total of 1,31,78,676 units of shares were traded at Rs 6.98 billion on the day. Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd (NLIC) topped the list with a turnover of Rs 24.81 crore. Investors in Sagar Distillery, Bandipur Cable Car, Swastik Laghubitta and Srinagar Agrotech Industry Ltd gained more than 9 percent each. Mabilung Energy Ltd fell 4.44 percent.
On Tuesday, the NEPSE index increased by 5.32 points to close at 2,655.99 points. A total of 1,13,99,410 units of shares were traded at Rs 5.77 billion on the day. The sub-indices of development banks, life insurance companies, mutual investment funds and trade groups decreased. The hotel and tourism group was the biggest loser, rising 1.41 percent.
On the third day of trading, Bandipur Cable Car topped the list with a turnover of Rs 269.99 million. Investors in Sagar Distillery and Srinagar Agrotech Industry gained more than 9 per cent, while Jhapa Energy surged 10 per cent to hit the positive circuit. Joshi Hydropower Development Limited fell by 4.96 percent.
Likewise, the NEPSE index increased by 9.61 points to close at 2,665.60 points on Wednesday, which was 0.36 percent higher than the previous day. A total of 123,31,791 units of shares were traded at Rs 6.63 billion through 90,782 transactions on the day. The sub-indices of finance, investment, life insurance, mutual fund and non-life insurance group decreased while others decreased. The hotel and tourism group was up 0.99 percent.
On Wednesday, NRN Infrastructure topped the list with a turnover of Rs 624,33,43,215, while Jhapa Energy again hit the positive circuit with a 10 percent increase. Similarly, the investors in Sagar Distillery, Swastik Laghubitta, Shreenagar Agrotech, Riverfalls Power and Mahuli Laghubitta posted profits of more than 9 percent, while Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) saw a decline of 3.94 percent.
On Thursday, the last day of weekly trading, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased slightly. The NEPSE index increased by 10.43 points to close at 2,678.03 points. A total of 137,13,256 units of shares were traded at Rs 6.59 billion on Thursday.
Shares of Sagar Distillery rose 10 percent to hit the positive circuit, while the investors of Swastik Laghubitta, Srinagar Agrotech Industries, Jhapa Energy and NRN Infrastructure gained more than 9 percent. Himstar Energy Company was the biggest loser. The banking sub-index rose 1.49 percent.
