Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising inspected the under-construction building of Koshi Hospital.
Two buildings with 759 beds are under construction through the Federal Urban Development and Building Construction Office Morang under the Ministry of Urban Development. Minister Ghising inspected the under-construction building and held discussions with the project management, hospital administration and contractors. Ghising directed the bodies concerned to work in three shifts by adding human resources and pay special attention to the quality of the hospital as the construction of physical infrastructure of the hospital which is directly related to the health of the people has not been expected to progress.
He also warned of regular monitoring of the construction works and taking action against those found negligent in the works. The hospital administration had requested the minister to pay special attention to the construction of health services as it was facing difficulties in providing health services due to lack of construction of the building.
Similarly, 35 per cent physical progress has been made in the construction of a 500-bed medical building at Koshi Hospital. The contract for the construction of the building was signed at Rs 2.46 billion in January 2019. The contract agreement is set to expire on December 26, 2020. The contractors have been paid Rs 74.98 crore.
Similarly, a contract agreement was signed with Raman-Bhumi-VIPL JV in July 2078 for the construction of a 259-bed building to provide ECU, surgical and neuro services.
The physical progress of the building is 50 percent. The deadline for the contract expired in November. The contractor has submitted an application to extend the deadline of the contract. The contract amount is Rs 38.87 crore. The contractors have been paid Rs 16.31 crore.
